I highly suggest watching optimistic Duelist's video on Aspects! His series dives far more in depth into complexity of the aspects! And isn't a summary for simply understanding like mine!
I find the link between the aspects and the different elements of a story or the elements of idea is very interesting. As Homestuck is a story that is very aware that it is a story. The aspects are described as being like matter in our world. The fundamental parts of the universe. And how they interact and relate to each other is still a large debate in the community despite the story being over 8,000 (web) pages of varying lengths long. If you are unfamilar with homestuck...read it or refer to this table...
...and thankfully, unlike the classes - the aspects are a little more confirmed.
As to now they relate to the part of the story optimisticDuelist theorizes that these aspects relate to these part. Reminder that this only on theory out of too many. And this is very simplified)
Space(Setting)-Time(Pacing)
Light(Plot Relevance)-Void(Plot Irrelevance)
Life(Agency)-Doom(Conflict)
Breath(Plot Development)-Blood(Character Dynamics)
Hope(Coherence)-Rage(Contrivance)
Heart(Inner Character)-Mind(Outer Character)
Out of all that I've read, their theories seem to be one of the most amazing ones I've read along with BladekindEyewear's who was one of the first to really delve into the aspects in Homestuck's narrative and their dualities.
The first chart (the circle one) is the true alignment of the aspects by the author and how each of the aspects relate to one another. For example, the heart aspect is shaped by rage and time. That could possibly represent the inner self is developed by the negative emotions, failures, and doubts one keeps over time. While the aspect of mind which represents the outer self could be representative of how one's outer self to the outside world is far more positive one we have internalized.
The second chart is how the characters in the story are able to utilize their aspects. It is what either what they know, manipulate, take, serve, create, destroy, or command. As such, a heart player would be able to interact with emotions and the self, while a mind player would interact with the mind and the thought.
The final chart is what the aspects embody within a story...that knows itself to be story. And how along with the classes, may tell an even deeper meaning into the plot of Andrew Hussie's Homestuck.
If you're ever curious as to what aspect you are you can take the Hiveswap's Extended Zodiac Quiz. While I prefer aspect quizzes of others...this is the official one. Hopefully they're release a class quiz before the week is over and I can stuff it into the class blog...
